Fashions on the field



While for some Snake Gully Cup Day is all about horses and picking a winner ... for others the day is all about fashion, hats and racing glamour! What racing carnival would be complete without Fashions on the Field!

Fashion and horse racing have become synonymous with each other, and the Snake Gully Cup is no exception. The Fashions on the Field is a highly anticipated and hotly contested event at the Cup each year, with both local and interstate competitors.


A team of Fashions on the Field spotters will wander amongst race goers looking for potential entrants. So if you are approached to enter, be confident and take the chance!

The Gundagai-Adelong Racing Club is again proud to have Rabobank sponsoring the Fashions on the Field event which will feature more than $2,500 in prizes.

Where to register:

This year entrants for Fashions on the Field can register before the day online, or on Snake Gully Cup Day at the entrance gate to the racecourse. We will need your name and the judging category you would like to enter.


Judging times:

Preliminary Judging is to take place after Race 3 where each entrant will present their outfit to the judges. Final Judging will take place after Race 4, and winners from each category will be presented with their award.

Judging and prize categories:

Fashions on the Field will be judged for the following categories:

  •    Best Snake Gully Hat - Millinery Award
  • Prize: One night's accommodation for two people (including breakfast) at Star City Hotel and $50 voucher from LJ Moses Store (Gundagai).


  •    Stylish Couple
  • Prize: $1,000 voucher from Rabobank (presented by Jo Heeney, Rabobank).


  •    Young Race Goer: 17-25 years
  • Prize: $70 voucher from All Ojo (Gundagai), plus Hair and Beauty package from Indulge U Hair Salon.


  •    Cutting Edge Race Wear
  • Prize: Two night’s accommodation for two people (including breakfast) at a Metro Hotel/Inn, 1 hour rejuvenation facial at JeanLouise Essential Beauty, and $50 voucher from La Bella-Nova.


  •    Most Elegant Lady
  • Prize: Two night’s accommodation for two people at Mantra Hotel on Northbourne (Canberra).


  •    Best Dressed Gent
  • Prize: $100 voucher at Moey’s Menswear, plus dinner for two (including wine) at Lott’s Family Hotel, Gundagai.
